While the percentage of ICU beds in use in the Northeast Region of hospitals rose significantly yesterday, it appears that COVID-19 is not the main reason for that.
83% of the beds are in use, which is a rise of 4 percentage points, but the number of people hospitalized for COVID is at 101, which is near the lowest number it has been since the stat began being tracked on November 10th. This indicates that the ICU beds are being filled by people with other ailments.
The other COVID related statistics were pretty mild. 28 new cases were confirmed, marking the 4th day in a row where the number of new cases was under 30. Also, 40 people were added to the recovery column, meaning 5,850 people have caught the virus, and 4,533 have recovered, while 1,267 people are still battling the virus. .The last time the number of active cases was that low was on October 18th.
Meanwhile, Sheboygan County continues to be hit hard by the virus, as 5 more people were confirmed to have died due to complications brought on by the virus. This raises their death toll to 91.
According to the Division of Public Health, two of these individuals were in the 60-69-year-old age group and the other three were over 80 years old. They also reported 61 new cases, and 87 recoveries, which brings their pandemic totals up to 10,975 cases, 1,214 of which remain active, and 9,670 recoveries.
