For the first time since October 7th, the number of new COVID-19 cases reported in Manitowoc County yesterday was below 20. There have been a couple of times where no new cases were reported in that time, but they coincided with a holiday, or when the state reporting system was down.
15 new cases reported yesterday, along with 35 recoveries, which means a total of 5,964 people have caught the virus since the start of the pandemic, and 4,776 people have recovered. Also, 1,138 people are still battling the virus.
The number of people seeking treatment for COVID in the Northeast region of hospitals did rise by one to 99, and the percentage of ICU beds in use is now at 77%, a rise of 5 percentage points.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported another death linked to COVID, raising their death toll to 92.
The victim wasn’t named and the exact age wasn’t released. Public health officials say that person was the second Wisconsin resident between the ages of 10-and-19 to die from COVID-related issues. The first was Madison East High School student Isai Morocho who died last month.
205 cases were also in the report yesterday, which includes all new cases since their December 23rd report. That coupled with 348 new recoveries, leaves them with 11,180 cases, 10,018 recoveries, and 1,070 people still battling the virus.
