Some of the numbers in the COVID-19 Report issued by the Manitowoc County Health Department yesterday were quite good, but there was also one not so good.
One more death was confirmed to be linked to COVID-19, raising the death toll to 51. This individual was from the City of Manitowoc and was over the age of 86. 21 of the 51 total deaths have been in that age group, and 34 have been Manitowoc residents.
But now for the good news. Only 7 new cases were confirmed, the lowest single-day number since September 8th. That combined with 55 new recoveries leaves the pandemic totals at 5,971 cases, 4,831 recoveries, and 1,089 people still battling the virus.
Also of note, the number of people hospitalized for COVID in the Northeast region remained stagnant at 99, while the percentage of ICU beds in use rose by one percentage point to 78%.
In Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported one death as well. This individual was between 40 and 49-years-old, the 4th person to die in Sheboygan County in that age group. Their death toll is now up to 93.
On the bright side, only 17 new cases were reported, along with 64 recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 11,197 cases, 10,082 recoveries, and 1,022 people still battling the virus.
