LaVerne M. “Susie” Skwor, age 88, longtime Mishicot resident, died peacefully Sunday evening, December 20, 2020 at the Aurora BayCare Medical Center, Green Bay.
Susie was born in Whitelaw on January 17, 1932 to Edward C. and Catherine (Hablewitz) Braun. She graduated from Washington High School in Two Rivers with the class of 1950. On June 6, 1953, she married Paul J. Skwor at St. Luke’s Catholic Church in Two Rivers. Paul preceded her in death on November 23, 1984. Susie worked many years as a legal secretary for Christiansen Law Firm, and later with Olson, Winter & Fox Attorneys until her retirement. She also served as secretary of the Mishicot Fire Department for 10 years, taking over for her late husband Paul who held the position until his death. Susie enjoyed playing cards, reading, cross-word puzzles & occasional visits to the casinos. She especially enjoyed the days of watching all her grandchildren as they participated in many sporting events.
Susie is survived by her four children: Edward (Karen) Skwor, and their children: Nathan (Junice) Skwor, Kevin (Lisa) Skwor, and Kayla Skwor; Sherri (Al) Schmidt, and their children: Adam (Melissa) Schmidt, Tom (Carrie) Schmidt; David (Cherie) Skwor, and their children: Nikki (Michael) Aragon, Ashle (Rusty) Hewitt, and Paul Skwor; Sandi (Wendy) Gatlin, and their children: Parker, Keaton, and Sheldon; ten great-grandchildren: Hudson, Gavin, Liam, Morgan, Hadley, Calvin, Kinley, Alee, Jackie, and Easton. She is further survived by one brother-in-law, Pete (Marlis) Skwor; along with several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Edward C. Braun; her mother, Catherine (Braun) Meidl; step-father, Alphonse Meidl; her husband, Paul J. Skwor; one brother, Edward J. (Eunice) Braun; one nephew, Edward C. (Buddy) Braun; and several brothers-in-law & sisters-in-law.
In accordance with LaVerne’s wishes, a private funeral service will be held at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot with burial in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations will be directed to organizations which were important to LaVerne, especially a scholarship fund established in her name at Mishicot High School @ 660 Washington Street, Mishicot, WI 54228.
