There was a bit of bad news and a bit of good news to report from over the weekend.
According to reports from the Manitowoc County Health Department, one more person died on Saturday (February 27th) due to COVID-19 related complications, raising the death toll up to 64. A total of four people died from the virus in the County throughout February.
In some good news, only 13 new cases were reported, with 11 of those coming in on Friday. This brings the pandemic total up to 7,239 cases, while 32 people remain hospitalized, a decline of 7 since Friday.
On the vaccination front, 1,694 more shots were administered over the weekend, with 889 of them being first shot doses. This brings the totals up to 19,224 total shots administered, with 13,004 of those being first doses.
That means 6,220 citizens have completed their vaccination regimen or roughly 7.8% of the county. 16.5% have received at least the first dose.
In Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported 19 new cases in their latest report on Friday, alongside 21 recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 12,886 cases, and 12,594 recoveries, with 144 cases remaining active.
They did not report any new deaths, leaving that total at 128.
