Another COVID-19 related milestone was surpassed in Manitowoc County yesterday (March 3rd), but this is a positive one.
According to the Health Department, over 20,000 vaccine shots have been administered, with 13,526 of those being first doses. This milestone was reached after 303 more shots were administered yesterday, with 186 of those going into people’s arms for the first time.
This means that roughly 17% of the county population has at least received one dose of either the Moderna or Pfizer vaccine, with 8.1% completing their two-shot regimen.
The other statistics continue to show that there is a bright light shining at the end of this COVID tunnel, and it appears to be coming at us rather quickly.
Only 4 more cases were added yesterday, bringing the pandemic total up to 7,246.
Over the past 7 days, Manitowoc County has averaged 4.7 new cases a day, which is significantly lower than it was during the peak of the pandemic. Also of note, there were no new deaths in the county, leaving that total stagnant at 63.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, 15 new cases were confirmed by the Division of Public Health yesterday. This, coupled with 19 new recoveries, leaves their pandemic totals at 12,930 cases, and 12,666 recoveries, with 133 cases remaining active.
