Due to the low number of new COVID-19 cases, the Manitowoc County Health Department has ceased issuing COVID-19 reports on Saturdays and Sundays.
For the last year, the Health Department has issued a new update every single day and has done a fantastic job of keeping the community informed about everything they needed to know regarding the coronavirus. The Department is now focusing its efforts on the vaccination of citizens but will continue to report new COVID numbers, as well as vaccination numbers Monday through Friday.
In their latest report, issued on Friday, the Health Department reported 8 new cases and no new deaths. This brings the pandemic totals up to 7,289 confirmed cases and leaves the death toll stagnant at 66.
The County Also reported a record-high number of vaccines administered in a day. 1,300 shots went into arms on Friday, with 710 of those being first doses. This means that 27,093 shots have been administered, with 16,940 people at least getting one dose.
Manitowoc County continues to be ahead of the curve, with 21.4% of citizens receiving at least one shot, compared to 20.4% of the state.
Meanwhile, in Sheboygan County, the Division of Public Health reported 16 new cases on Friday, along with 12 new recoveries.
This brings their pandemic totals up to 13,040 confirmed cases, 12,764 recoveries, and 143 active cases.
They also did not report any deaths, leaving that total stagnant at 133.
