Leon “Rem” D. Remaker, age 75, a resident of Manitowoc, entered eternal life on Sunday, March 25, 2021 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center.
Leon was born on February 11, 1946 in Manitowoc to the late Louis and Leona (Staudinger) Remaker. He graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1964. Leon had worked at Northshore Liquor for many decades until his retirement. He truly enjoyed visiting with friends and strangers alike, and also listening to music. Leon was everyone’s friend and enjoyed listening and reminiscing about the old days. He was a very thoughtful person and never forgot an important date. Leon always had a kind word for everyone and will be missed by many.
Survivors include Leon’s two sisters, Carol Thiry, Kawaskum; and Audrey (Ron) Stupecky, Shawano; eight nieces and nephews, Greg (Cindy) Thiry, Debbie Bungert, Sheila Ish, Randy Stupecky, Lori (Juan) Agbuis, Mike (Kori) Stupecky, Lynn (Jed) Carroll, and Brian (Kari) Thiry; 19 great nieces and nephews; 22 great great nieces and nephews; also other relatives and many friends. Leon was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Leona Remaker; brother-in-law, John Thiry; and a nephew, Roger Bungert.
Funeral services will be held at Noon on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo, 1121 North 14th Street, Manitowoc. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Doug LeCaptain with entombment to take place at Knollwood Mausoleum. Following the funeral service, a luncheon for family and friends will be held at the Harrigan Parkside Gathering Center located on the south property of the Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home. The family will greet relatives and friends at St. Francis of Assisi on Waldo on Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at Noon. Leon’s family would like to thank and acknowledge Rem’s good friends, Don Leist and Kim Christensen. Everything they have done to help with Rem was greatly appreciated and will never be forgotten.
