The month of April started out pretty good for Manitowoc County on the COVID-19 front.
Only three new cases were reported by the Health Department, bringing the pandemic total up to 7,362, while no new deaths were reported. That total remained at 68, while three more people were admitted to area hospitals to be treated for COVID.
Meanwhile, 611 more vaccines were administered, with 459 of those being first dose shots. This brings the total number of citizens vaccinated in Manitowoc County up to 39,534, with 24,818 people receiving at least one dose, or around 31.4% of County Residents.
Meanwhile in Sheboygan County, after a relatively large spike in cases to end March, April starts out with one more death. This individual was over the age of 80, and brings the death toll up to 134.
Also, only 4 new cases were reported by the Division of Public Health, while 9 more people were listed as recovered. This brings the pandemic totals up to 13,268 confirmed cases, 12,978 recoveries, and leaves 156 cases active.
