Gerald B. “Jerry” Shillcox, age 79, longtime town of Gibson resident, died peacefully Saturday morning, April 10, 2021 at River’s Bend Health & Rehabilitation Center with family at his side.
Jerry was born in Little Chute on August 28, 1941 to John and Dorothy (Diedrich) Shillcox. He graduated from Mishicot High School in 1958, then proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Army for four years. On February 5, 1966 he married Joann M. Reif at St. James Catholic Church in Cooperstown. The couple was blessed with five children and fifty five years of marriage. Jerry and Joann were longtime members of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot, where he was a member of the church choir for many years. They also enjoyed playing cards and dice together. Jerry was employed with Mirro Aluminum Company for 37 years until his retirement. He enjoyed truck pulling, restoring tractors, playing volleyball, and played basketball at the Two Rivers Community House for many years with Dick’s Wonder Bar. Jerry was a huge Wisconsin Badger fan, and also coached grade school basketball for many years at Holy Cross Catholic School in Mishicot.
Survivors include his wife, Joann; five children: Todd (Michelle) Shillcox of Iowa, Pam (Pat) Lensmire of Mishicot, Tom (Tracy) Shillcox of Valders, John (Jennifer) Shillcox of Minnesota, and Paula Berg (special friend, James Nielsen) of Francis Creek; sixteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren. He is further survived by four brothers: Donald Shillcox of Wyoming, Sylvester Shillcox of Mishicot, Stanley Shillcox and Floyd Shillcox, both of Two Rivers; and one sister, Patricia (Robert) Radue of Minnesota; along with many other brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy Shillcox; and one sister-in-law, Barbara Shillcox.
A private family mass will be held on Thursday April 15, 2021 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Mishicot. Rev. Jeffrey Briones will officiate at the service, with burial to follow in the Jambo Creek Cemetery, Town of Gibson. Military graveside rites will be accorded by members of Kempen-Staudinger-Terrens VFW Post #7753 of Mishicot.
