The State of Wisconsin has reached a deal with the U-S Department of Agriculture that saves the $70-million it was about to lose following a state Supreme Court decision.
More than 400,000 Wisconsin households weren’t going to be able to collect food assistance.
An emergency declaration by the Department of Health Services allowed federal funding to continue.
It was about to be lost after the Supreme Court struck down the governor’s emergency order that included a mask mandate.
Wisconsin no longer met the federal guidelines for the funding.
Tuesday’s agreement changed the situation.
