A couple of local leaders are now among the ever-growing group of people who have received a COVID-19 vaccination.
Manitowoc Mayor Justin Nickels and County Executive Bob Ziegelbauer were both vaccinated at the County clinic and were among 720 people who received a shot yesterday (April 14th).
Of that group, 299 received their first dose, however, Ziegelbauer received his second Moderna shot. 49,353 shots have now been administered, with 29,904 of those being first dose shots.
Nearly 38% of County residents have now gotten at least one dose, which is right on par with the state’s rate.
Also, five new cases were reported by the Health Department yesterday, raising the pandemic total up to 7,408. The number of people hospitalized for COVID in the area rose by four to 32, while the death toll remained stagnant at 69.
In Sheboygan County, there was another minor spike in cases, as reported by the Division of Public Health.
18 new cases were added yesterday, along with 20 recoveries. This brings their pandemic totals up to 13,462 confirmed cases, 13,169 recoveries, and leaves 177 cases active.
They also did not report any deaths, that total remaining at 134.
