A bus driver shortage is why 80 buses didn’t run about 160 routes in Milwaukee as in-person classes started this week.
Many students were left waiting and parents were forced to scramble to get them to school.
Some families have been told to find their own transportation to schools. One parent said the bus was supposed to pick her three children up at 8:23 a-m and they waited on the porch until 9:00, but no bus showed up.
Another parent said she had to leave her job to take her daughter to school.
She says students have to be at school at 9:00 a-m and she has to be at work at 7:00.
She says that “isn’t sustainable.”
