A Virginia police lieutenant has lost his job after sending an anonymous donation to Kyle Rittenhouse’s defense.
Rittenhouse is the teenager accused of killing two men and wounding a third last August during protests in Kenosha.
Norfolk Police Chief Larry Boone said Lieutenant William Kelly violated city and department policies with the $25 donation.
He accompanied the donation with a note of support telling the Illinois teenager he had done nothing wrong.
Kelly was placed on administrative duty last Friday and was relieved of duty Tuesday.
A data breach revealed who had donated money and Kelly had used his department email address.
